Healing Mantra

Blue Purple Spiral

Here is an example of a mantra that is often chanted by Free Illuminists on Arabia Mountain during our healing circles. This is an abbreviated version of one of the mantras for the Medicine Buddha.

The mantra is as follows: OM HUM TRAM HRI AH

The music in the background is part of the song Stereophrenic by Meat Beat Manifesto (off of their album, Subliminal Sandwich).

Feel free to experiment with intonation, as well as speeding up/slowing down the mantra, and including visualizations as well (pitch, frequency, duration, etc., can all be adapted to preference). Next time we get together to do this as a group, I will try to remember to record that as well, so you can hear the difference it makes when you have several people chanting together (not just my silly voice).

The Art Ashram

Art Ashram

The Art Ashram is a proposed monthly one day art event featuring both a traditional gallery showing as well as an interactive component designed to be the beginning of a dialog.

We are looking to fund our first four shows and get this event going!

The Concept

The idea behind the Art Ashram project is rooted in the idea that art can and has been used as a way to both communicate and obtain those subtle spiritual experiences that many would label mystical. Through the use of art it is our desire to begin a dialog. A dialog between artist and patron, man and women, parent and child, etc.

We feel that art is that perfect symbolic language that both artist and mystic understand, furthermore it is that language that can be and should be accessible to everyone. The Art Ashram’s purpose is to begin, encourage and support this dialog and facilitate an environment of creative freedom and spiritual transcendence. We want to create an environment free from dogma and judgement, but instead encourage an open exploration and discussion of both art and spirit.

Ultimately we want to create a beautiful, meditative and innovative art experience that will serve patron, artist and venue alike. We wish to have the supportive environment and creativity of Andy Warhol’s Plastic Factory, combined with the meditative atmosphere of a Temple space. Hence, we want to truly create an Art Ashram.

The How

The show itself will take place once a month centered on a theme. The work of several artists will be shown, all contributing to the theme. Together the art will create a tapestry of concepts and perhaps even contradictions around the subject. This part of the Art Ashram will resemble an art opening with a meditative atmosphere.

The other aspect of the Art Ashram, the Warholian atmosphere in which patrons can actively participate, is interactive. They can paint, draw, write, sing, and read poetry based on the theme. Whole families can join in the dialog and draw and paint together. Combined with the art that is being displayed, this will create an entire artistic and transcendent experience, the whole event becoming more than an art show and more of a shared experience.

Prospective Shows

The themes chosen for each event are vague enough to encompass many traditions, yet specific enough to create a unified show. The Ashram itself will refrain from preaching for or against any particular belief system. The point of the project is to open the door for open conversations. This all being said, the first year of shows should include the following themes:

1. Emptiness is Form 2. Unity 3. Duality 4. Balance 5. Earth, Air, Fire and Water 6. Our Body is our Temple 7. As Above so Below 8. Nature of Happiness 9. Cyclical Nature 10. Death 11. Rebirth 12. Know Thyself

We feel this art event could become a strong force in the art and spiritual community and serve to bring these two strong communities together. Furthermore, we feel that this event could serve as a doorway for those who are “art curious”. An open and encouraging atmosphere such as this may spawn the next Da Vinci or Ram Dass.

What the money is for:

We want to be able to take complete control of the venue. So, renting a venue is the best idea for our needs. The venues that we are interested in rent for $150 to $250. Our goal of $1,100 is to pay rent for the first four shows, purchase art supplies for the interactive portion of the event, and purchasing food and drinks.

We look forward to working with you on the Art Ashram project.

For more details, and to get involved, see the Art Ashram on the Photo Monk website and see the Art Ashram indiegogo page for funding opportunities.

Wandering Monks of the Modern Age

Syzygy

When Tau Palamas first sent me a working draft of Syzygy: Reflections on the Monastery of the Seven Rays requesting that I please let him know what I think about the material, I anticipated that I would be in for a real treat. I was not disappointed! I’ve had the privilege of reading other material by Tau Palamas, shorter pieces he has shared publicly as well as several unpublished writings related to various communities we are both active in. I am constantly impressed with his exuberant, energetic, and informative writing style. Syzygy is no exception. Bishop Palamas writes from the heart. He is completely unpretentious and authentically humble, which is quite refreshing these days, especially within the world of esoteric literature where it seems many writers are more concerned with making a name for themselves and becoming the next big Occult Rockstar.

If you have an interest in the Monastery of the Seven Rays, Gnostic-Voudon, and Esoteric Christianity, this is the book for you. Rooted in the Work of Patriarch +Michael Bertiaux (The Voudon Gnostic Workbook, Cosmic Meditation, Vudu Cartography, etc.), and drawing on his own personal experiences of Christian Mysticism, Western Hermeticism, Gnosticism and Voudon, Tau Palamas gives us a peek into the fascinating world of a modern gyrovague (“wandering monk”).

And as if that wasn’t enough, Syzygy is adorned with the wondrous mystical art of Tau Palamas, which he calls Astral Icons. You really have to see the prints up-front and in person to appreciate their amazing qualities.

Buy this book. You won’t regret it.

Free Illuminist Autumnal Equinox Gathering 2013

Several Free Illuminists local to Atlanta, Georgia USA gathered together on Sunday (22 September 2013) on the sacred power spot of Mount Arabia to celebrate the Autumnal Equinox, consecrate a new bishop, facilitate points chauds empowerments and perform a healing circle. In attendance were bishops T Allen Greenfield, +Dositheos, Tau Vescha Sur, Tau Brooke, Tau Karen, Tau Salix Alba, Tau Roger, Tau Kimberly Lynn, Tau Abraxas, brothers Cory, Collin and Kozma, as well as a few additional honored guests. Ormus Lodge, Assembly of the Knowledge and Wisdom of Solomon, Coptic Gnostic Church, Ezili Roots and Templi de Niger Sol were all represented.

Some of those present for Autumnal Equinox gathering

The exact time of the Equinox was 4:44 pm EDT when several of us were already gathered on top of the mountain for fellowship. Shortly thereafter we began our esoteric Work for the day. First on the agenda was the consecration of a new bishop, Tau Abraxas.

Consecration of Tau Abraxas

Consecration of Tau Abraxas

The primary consecrator was T Allen Greenfield, assisted by co-consecrators +Dositheos and Tau Brooke, with Tau Roger serving as deacon (since we did not have a deacon present. Tau Roger is a duly consecrated bishop). Tau Abraxas has recently returned to Atlanta after living in Colorado for some time. Earlier in the year Tau Abraxas received points chauds empowerments from Tau AHA, and then again from myself (+Dositheos). She is an active member of Templi de Niger Sol where she continues to pursue initiation and has taken on additional responsibilities as a contact point for that temple. The Atlanta-based Free Illuminist community welcomes you, stands in support of your episcopacy, and is excited that you are contributing to the greater movement in your own unique ways. May your labors continue to bear fruit, and may your burdens be light.

Consecration of Tau Abraxas

Consecration of Tau Abraxas

Following the consecration we opened the floor to anyone that wanted to receive points chauds empowerments. I administered empowerments for Tau Abraxas, Tau Karen, Tau Kimberly Lynn, and +Salix Alba, all of whom I have previously worked with in this regard. If I receive reports and/or comments from any of them I will share those as well. In addition, I believe others may have received points empowerments that day from different facilitators, and if I receive reports and/or comments regarding this I will add them here.

After a short break we converged on Consecration Rock to perform a healing circle. Many petitions and requests for healing, strength, and light were brought to our attention. As has become typical for our healing circles, we joined hands and intoned a mantra (see below) while visualizing purple light swirling in a clock-wise fashion, continuing the mantra as the energy is raised to a peak, and then releasing it out into the aethers, directed with focused intent towards each of the situations that we received petitions for.

The specific mantra used for the healing circle was: OM HUM TRAM HRI AH.

Upcoming events:

Mid October (date and time to be announced) – Ormus Lodge will be hosting the next in our series of Points Chauds Veve workings. Location is +Salix Alba’s temple.

Sunday, October 27th – Arabia Mountain Gathering – 3 pm.

Saturday, December 7th – Ormus Lodge Anniversary celebration (time, location and further details to be announced)

Blessings,
+Dositheos

Points Chauds – Some Practical Considerations

pwen cho - front head and neck

Pwen Cho - front head and neck

On 11 March 2013 I was invited by the Spiritual Circle of Atlanta to give a presentation on points chauds (hot points) empowerments. I was speaking on behalf of Ormus Lodge, a philosophical and research lodge of which I am one of the facilitators. This was the second time I was invited to speak on this topic to this particular community. On the previous occasion, which was in January of 2012, my approach was to present a historical overview of the points chauds Work as it has come down to Ormus Lodge through various channels. For those who have an interest in this, you can read my account here. For this more recent session I decided to take a different approach. The presentation for 2013 was geared towards the practical side of this Work. What follows are my notes from the session of March 2013. While I did provide a brief historical overview to set the context, I will not repeat that here as what I said and more can be found at the above link from last year. It is my hope that this material may be of some benefit for those who are interested in engaging in this Work as well as contributing in some way to the ongoing collective dialog of those who are already practicing within this experimental system in one form or another.

I want to thank all of those who have shared from their experiences over the years, both in private correspondence and on the In Free Communion working group. Without the help, insight and support shared from this community, none of this would have been possible. I thank you and Ormus Lodge thanks you. There are too many of you kind folks to name individually. You know who you are. Let’s keep the dialog going!
