Open System, Open Source, Free Software, Free Illuminism

Here’s an interesting diagram of a basic open system. It has been provoking further thoughts in relation to free illuminism.

And in different, yet related news, here is the documentary Revolution OS, which is about the origins of the Free Software Movement, GNU, Open Source, etc. I especially like Richard Stallman’s quote: “…free software refers, not to price, but to freedom. So think of free speech, not free beer.”

And I’m also thinking of free illuminism.

Interesting. Open Source and Free Software ideas may have originally have had their roots in Discordianism’s “Kopyleft - All Rights Reversed” concept. But it seems that this part of the Discordian’s message has gained so much popular support in the software world, and more recently the art world due to the Creative Commons concept, that it is from here and not so much Discordianism it seems, that it has been finding its way into the wider occult community.

I’ve been keeping an account of magick and occult related groups and websites that have adopted some level of open source approach on the KIAwiki. I have added mention of Congregational illuminism and a link to this article, on that page (in addition to simply creating a Congregational illuminism article page with links to your main sites).
