Support Occult of Personality
Greetings all,This is an unsolicited post I am writing of my own accord. I would like to bring to the attention of the magickal community a website that for the last two years or so has been an amazing resource dedicated to sharing interviews with a vast array of individuals working within many and diverse systems of esoterica. The site is Occult of Personality, maintained by +Greg. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you’re in for a real treat. If you have, you know what I’m talking about!
+Greg has graciously given of his own time, effort and resources to build this site, do the research, conduct the interviews, pay for everything out of his own pocket and then as a service, put it all up on the web for free. That’s right, I said free - no subscriptions, no strings attached. It speaks volumes of his integrity and dedication. Obviously he’s not in this to swindle folks out of their money.
That being the case, it has come to my attention that our dear brother can use some support. I think his proven track record speaks for itself. So, please consider helping out in any way you can. The passed two years of enjoying these awesome and thoughtful interviews has been wonderful. Hats off to +Greg for all his work! I hope to see Occult of Personality continue for many years to come.
Sincerely,
+Dositheos
Statement of Mutual Support
I am very happy to announce a Statement of Mutual Support has been declared between Horus/Maat Lodge and various nodes of Congregational Illuminists. I look forward to further strengthening the bonds of friendship, collaboration, and support for all involved. Horus/Maat Lodge has long been an inspiration in my personal works and I am proud to be a part of this.Open System, Open Source, Free Software, Free Illuminism
Here’s an interesting diagram of a basic open system. It has been provoking further thoughts in relation to free illuminism.![]() |

And in different, yet related news, here is the documentary Revolution OS, which is about the origins of the Free Software Movement, GNU, Open Source, etc. I especially like Richard Stallman’s quote: “…free software refers, not to price, but to freedom. So think of free speech, not free beer.”
And I’m also thinking of free illuminism.
The time is ripe
Being an advocate of grassroots, non-hierarchical, non-authoritarian, “bottom-up” movements myself, I take pleasure in learning how this type of model is prevalent across a rather large and diverse field of activity and group organization in current world events. I feel the collapse of the world economy has been a touchstone for many people to seriously consider (perhaps for the first time, for some) individual life choices as well as potential new modes of working collectively on a scale far larger than ever before.I see reports of protests in London (G20 Protests, 1 April 2009), Strasbourg (NATO protests, 4 April 2009), Georgia (Mikheil Saakashvili protests, 9 April 2009). I witness the growth of the Zeitgeist movement. I see banners saying “Abolish Money”, “Capitalism isn’t working”, “You got bailed out, we got sold out”, etc. I see communities in Detroit (MI), Ithaca (NY) and Pittsboro (NC) creating their own local currencies. I see 4 states in the US pass laws allowing same-sex marriage. I hear a lot more talk about “sustainability” in the public arena.
People are not just protesting what has gone wrong, but also offering alternatives for our collective Next Step as a species on this planet. I feel this is a critical time and I want to stay aware and alert in my own mindstream.
If I was a prophet, I would peer beyond the veil of the future and tell you if it will be “el mundo bueno” or “el mundo malo” on the other side, but alas, I am no prophet and it is up to all of us to create our own future. This begins right now.
March Events
Ormus Lodge will not be hosting the 91 Parts of Earth/Points Chauds working this month. Nor will the Coptic Gnostic Church be hosting the Sacrament Research Group. Both of these monthly events have been going really well for the last year. I am very pleased with what we have all been doing. They are certainly not canceled, just postponed until April due to other obligations. In fact, this pause works out well in both cases. We have completed two full cycles with the 91 Parts of Earth/Points Chauds Working. We have done parts 1 - 6, which means we have covered the first and second Aeythr (there are 3 parts per Aeythr, except for the 30th which has four parts associated with it). And the Sacrament Research Group of the CGC has completed phase one of our study which consisted of preliminary dialog and research regarding the Sacraments. In phase two we will begin to develop our own Sacraments to be used within the Coptic Gnostic Church.
18 March 2009 nodes in free communion will be doing our monthly healing session. This recurs the 3rd Wednesday of every month.
21 March 2009 we will be participating in points chauds workings at Mt. Arabia with multiple nodes of Free Illuminists. See this entry.
Regularly scheduled events for Ormus Lodge and the Coptic Gnostic Church will resume in April.
Also, as a reminder, you can always check the Events Calendar to stay informed of gatherings and workings of Ormus Lodge, the Coptic Gnostic Church and other illuminists in free communion.
Upcoming Gathering
If you read my blog you’ve likely seen entries about Mt. Arabia, points chauds (hot points), free illuminism and other related subjects. If you’ve found any of this interesting and want to check it out first hand, or if you’re already engaged in these things but missed the memo (hehe), take note that on 21 March 2009 we will be returning to Mt. Arabia after a long cold winter, and YOU are invited.Points Chauds empowerments will be offered. Also on the plate are a few ordinations, a consecration, a charter signing for a new node of Congregational Illuminism, and much merriment. Don’t forget the merriment, that part is important.
Contact me if you are interested in attending. Or just show up. We’ll be the ones at the top of the mountain, glowing with funny lights and smiling.

How to Form a Congregational Illuminist Body
[This statement was prepared on the In Free Communion working group, with special thanks to T Allen Greenfield and Brother Kibrick]
At this important point in the evolution of the Western Magical Tradition, it is becoming increasingly apparent that restrictive forms of gnosis based upon “grade systems” are becoming irrelevant for many who are attempting to perform the great work at this time; that is perhaps why you have read this far. Congregational illuminists operating on the principles of Scientific Illuminism find that, although some may have worked alone for extended periods, they may be living in a place on the Earth where they have no contact with others who may benefit from the sharing and developing research that could be usefully applied individually and collectively.
